Many people are confirmed dead and hundreds injured, with the toll expected to rise as rescue operations continue through the night. Families are trapped beneath rubble. Healing Venezuela is raising funds to donate medical supplies to first responders and to the hospitals.

It is the strongest seismic event the country has experienced in over a century. Venezuela was already one of the most fragile nations in the region before the earthquakes struck. A decade of economic collapse has left its public health system severely under-resourced, with chronic shortages of medicines, equipment and poor water quality
Healing Venezuela has worked in Venezuela for over a decade, building a network of trusted hospitals, medical professionals. Our junior doctors are already attending injured people and hospitals are distributing potable water from our plants to communities. Funds raised through this appeal will be directed immediately to emergency medical response: first aid supplies and trauma kits for field teams; medicines, oral rehydration salts, and hygiene kits for displaced families in temporary shelter
Earthquakes do not end when the ground stops shaking. In Venezuela's case, the long-term consequences will be shaped by what happens in the first weeks and months - whether infections are contained, whether displaced families receive adequate nutrition and sanitation, whether the most vulnerable survive the aftermath. Healing Venezuela has been operating for 10 years in the country. This emergency response will connect to our existing programmes in public health for the longer term.
